Welcome to Chengdu! Upon arrival at the airport or railway station, you will be transferred to your downtown hotel for check-in and rest. No tight schedules are arranged today. Take a casual walk around old urban blocks, stay away from crowded main scenic areas and experience the authentic vibe of old Chengdu. Taste local snacks such as egg cakes, ice jelly and marinated delicacies along the streets. In the evening, enjoy authentic Sichuan dishes at a local restaurant. Stay overnight in downtown Chengdu.
Optional Activity: Sit in a traditional tea house and order a cup of gaiwan tea to experience the typical slow lifestyle of Chengdu.
Day 2: Downtown Cultural Tour | Wenshu Monastery & Qingyang Palace
Today's Highlights: Visit famous ancient temples and experience Buddhist and Taoist culture.
After breakfast, start the cultural tour in downtown Chengdu. First come to Wenshu Monastery, a time-honored Buddhist sacred site in western Sichuan. With red walls, dark tiles and towering ancient trees, the monastery boasts solemn halls and quiet courtyards. Wander along the corridors to escape the hustle and bustle and appreciate classical architecture and garden scenery. Next, head to Qingyang Palace, the oldest existing Taoist temple in Chengdu. Featuring grand ancient buildings and precious cultural relics, it fully displays the inheritance of Bashu Taoist culture. You can explore surrounding cultural and creative blocks and local shops in the afternoon, then return to the hotel for rest.
Optional Activity: Try vegetarian meals and traditional pastries near the temples for a delicate taste experience.
Day 3: Chengdu → Dujiangyan | Tour the Millennium Water Project
Today's Highlights : Explore Dujiangyan Scenic Area and admire the grand water conservancy landscape.
After breakfast, depart for Dujiangyan, a city under the administration of Chengdu. Upon arrival, enter Dujiangyan Scenic Area. Follow the walking trails to visit core attractions including the Fish Mouth Dyke, Feisha Weir and Precious Bottle Neck. Learn about the superb wisdom of ancient people in water control with professional introduction. Walk across the famous Anlan Cable Bridge, overlook the roaring river and mountain canyons on both sides. Stroll around Two Kings Temple to pay tribute to the ancient water-control ancestors. The whole tour follows flat paths with easy walking. Stay in a featured homestay near the scenic area at night.
Tips: Strong wind blows along the river, so please take a light coat. Wear comfortable flat shoes as you will walk a lot in the scenic area.
Day 4: Dujiangyan → Front Mountain of Mount Qingcheng | Taoist Mountain & Forest Hike
Today's Highlights: Explore the core area of Mount Qingcheng, wander forests and Taoist temples.
After breakfast, head for Mount Qingcheng, reputed as "the quietest mountain under heaven". Today we visit the Front Mountain, which combines natural scenery and cultural relics. Take the sightseeing vehicle to Moon City Lake. You can take a boat on the clear lake surrounded by rolling mountains, just like a picturesque landscape painting. Walk slowly along lakeside paths and gentle mountain stone steps. Towering ancient trees, murmuring streams and fresh air accompany you all the way. Visit scenic spots such as Natural Picture and Tianshi Cave to experience the profound Taoist culture. Enjoy changing views of forests, strange peaks and secluded valleys along the route. Stay in a homestay at the foot of Mount Qingcheng at night.
Optional Activity: Try local specialties including cold-water fish and ginkgo stewed chicken in the mountain town.
Day 5: Lingyan Mountain Tour & Return to Chengdu
Today's Highlights : Enjoy fresh mountain scenery in the early morning and finish the journey before returning.
Mount Qingcheng area is shrouded in mist with extremely fresh air in the early morning. After breakfast, take a leisure walk around Lingyan Mountain. This quiet scenic spot has fewer tourists, with ancient temples hidden among woods, ideal for relaxation. After the visit, pack luggage and drive back to downtown Chengdu. Recall the splendid landscapes and profound culture along the way. The tour concludes after arriving in Chengdu. You can arrange your subsequent trip according to your flight or high-speed train schedule.
